The Underrated Garden Window

The Underrated Garden Window

Garden windows are some of the best windows for home owners who love to bring the outdoors in. Also known as "greenhouse windows" thanks to their design and function, garden windows are an excellent addition to your kitchen or other rooms of your home.

What Are Garden Windows?

You would be mistaken if you thought a garden window was merely a window that faced your garden. Instead, garden windows are new constructions that are added to your home in order to give you the space to grow a small garden inside.

Typically, these custom replacement windows are constructed with a deep seat board that provides a space for you to place the plants you wish to grow. These plants are then surrounded by what effectively is a miniature greenhouse on all sides except for the house-facing side. They are able to get the sun they need, and you are able to enjoy a perfect windowsill garden throughout the year.

New Construction

Garden windows are usually considered new construction instead of a simple install. We strongly encourage you to hire our replacement window installation team if you wish to add a garden window to your home. It is likely that you will have to remove a kitchen backsplash, the existing window, the frame and possibly more, and expert construction of your new window is necessary to maintain your home's energy efficiency.

Design

When we come out to begin working on your new garden window, we will help to walk you through the design process. Many homeowners are choosing to have their garden windows operate as a seamless part of their kitchen countertop, which helps to expand the space substantially.

It is important to consider the projection of the garden window and the impact it will have on nearby fences, shrubbery, porches, and anything that could be in the way of the window.
